Mazatlan is a city in Mexico. It is located in the state of Sinaloa. It is located on the Pacific coast, just across from the southern tip of Baja California.

Mazatlan is a word of the language of Nahuatl and means "place of deer" or "land of deer". The city was founded in 1820. In the second half of the nineteenth century there was a large group of German immigrants in the city, became a prosperous trading port. The town's development was mainly based on importing equipment for the nearby gold and silver mines. In the period 1859-1873 Mazatlan

In 2005, Mazatlan hosted the "Serie del Caribe". This is a baseball tournament with teams from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic.
